i have seen now a rare situation, while i was at middle of files list and pressing down button, but thunar did not allow and beeped. when i resorted files by name, problem disappeared. i tried to resort again differently, but problem has not appeared.
Thanks for reporting ! It's the same bug than the linked one. Select a file at the very bottom by click, than mark a file in the middle via rubberband. If you now press "down", you will get a beep, while the file in the middle appears to be selected. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 16286 ***
i am not sure. i used detailed list view. rubberband does not work there.

In detailed view the bug there can be reproduced by selecting the topmost item by click, rubberbanding e.g. the botommost item and than pressing "up" --> beep.
