Hello:

This was already at 4.12 (debian stretch)


And I see it still happening in 4.14
Debian buster with mx linux

This happens when the icon is first displayed, for example when you open the vlc

The value is not complete, it is cut off.

When the value rises to 100 the value is not complete, it is cut off.

This can happen without compositing enabled. The notification area is not maintained properly as part of Gtk anymore, so we won't be able to fix this properly afaict.

Solution: use compositing.
Workaround: restart the panel (xfce4-panel -r) and the artifact should go away.
