Steps to reproduce: xfce4-screensaver settings: screensaver is deactivated, but lock screen is activated with system sleep. xfce power manager settings: when lid is closed: suspend on battery and when plugged in. After coming back (opening the lid) xfce4 screensaver doesn't show panel (in xubuntu panel is very slim at the top (maybe 4px), in Arch panel shows up at the bottom; in both systems without showing information or icons). Buttons ("switch user", "cancel", "unlock") are not working. However, after waiting a certain time the panel shows up with icons and info (buttons are still not working). Logging in works without problems by typing in the password and hitting the Enter key. Problem only occurs when the system goes to sleep. Version information (tested on): Xubuntu 19.10 and Arch Linux with Adwaita-dark, Greybird and a custom theme xfce 4.14
I have a very similar issue but using hibernate.
I am also using Xfce in Arch Linux. In my case too the top panel is missing -- with a blank area seemingly of same dimensions as the panel at the bottom of the screeen -- when resuming the laptop (either from standby or hibernate). The "Unlock" and "Cancel" buttons seem to work in my case though. xfce4-screensaver version: 0.1.8-2
I have the same problem when the system returns from sleep. System: arch linux xfce4-screensaver 0.1.9
On my system the buttons work the whole time, only the panel is missing. The "certain time" what michael mentioned is on my system exactly 30 seconds after the screen turns on again. After that time i can see the panel again. Maybe this information is helpful for finding the bug.
Created attachment 9637 video of the behaviour 30 seconds after the login screen (not the cursor) is shown the panel appears.
