Since i'm using xfce 4.14 my xfce-panel crashed sometimes. Mostly it happens while i'm closing an application like (for example) Firefox or Thunderbird. With xfce 4.12 i don't had such issues. The panel goes away abd a half second later it comes back again and works perfectly again. My dmesg shows this lines: [27855.513815] xfce4-panel[1263]: segfault at 8 ip 00007f86a717146b sp 00007fff8cf6f8c0 error 4 in libtasklist.so[7f86a716f000+c000] [27855.513823] Code: 49 c7 c0 ff ff ff ff 4c 0f 49 c0 44 89 c0 c3 55 53 48 83 ec 08 48 8b 6f 60 48 85 ed 74 27 48 89 fb ff 15 60 57 01 00 48 89 c6 <48> 8b 45 00 48 85 c0 74 05 48 39 30 74 47 48 89 ef ff 15 06 58 01 This happns in a daily use of system every 4 or 6 days. i can't reproduce this bug which makes it difficult :( My system: OS: Arch Linux Kernel: x86_64 Linux 4.19.80-1-lts-dm Uptime: 7h 51m Packages: 1273 Shell: bash 5.0.11 Resolution: 1920x1080 DE: Xfce4 WM: Xfwm4 WM Theme: Matcha-sea GTK Theme: Matcha-dark-azul [GTK2] Icon Theme: Papirus-Dark Font: Noto Sans 10 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Eight-Core @ 16x 3.376GHz GPU: GeForce GTX 1060 3GB RAM: 3253MiB / 32181MiB Current packages: extra/thunar-archive-plugin 0.4.0-2 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/thunar-media-tags-plugin 0.3.0-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-appfinder 4.14.0-1 (xfce4) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-artwork 0.1.1a_git20110420-5 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-battery-plugin 1.1.3-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-clipman-plugin 1.4.3-2 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-cpufreq-plugin 1.2.1-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-cpugraph-plugin 1.1.0-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-datetime-plugin 0.8.0-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-dict 0.8.3-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-diskperf-plugin 2.6.2-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-eyes-plugin 4.5.0-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-fsguard-plugin 1.1.1-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-genmon-plugin 4.0.2-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-mailwatch-plugin 1.2.0-8 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-mount-plugin 1.1.3-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-mpc-plugin 0.5.2-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-netload-plugin 1.3.2-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-notes-plugin 1.8.1-4 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-notifyd 0.4.4-2 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-panel 4.14.1-1 (xfce4) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-power-manager 1.6.5-2 (xfce4) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-pulseaudio-plugin 0.4.2-2 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-screensaver 0.1.8-2 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-screenshooter 1.9.6-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-sensors-plugin 1.3.92-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-session 4.14.0-2 (xfce4) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-settings 4.14.1-1 (xfce4) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-smartbookmark-plugin 0.5.1-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-systemload-plugin 1.2.3-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-taskmanager 1.2.2-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-terminal 0.8.8-2 (xfce4) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-time-out-plugin 1.0.3-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-timer-plugin 1.7.0-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-verve-plugin 2.0.0-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-wavelan-plugin 0.6.1-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-weather-plugin 0.10.0-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] extra/xfce4-xkb-plugin 0.8.1-2 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert] community/xfce4-whiskermenu-plugin 2.3.3-1 (xfce4-goodies) [Installiert]

The crash is on libtasklist.so (Window Buttons plugin), but without debug symbols it's hard to tell precisely where, judging from the trace I would say xfce_tasklist_remove or xfce_tasklist_finalize, which are called when a window is removed from the list. Well, without a reliable way to reproduce the crash, it's very difficult for us to provide a fix. If you notice some kind of pattern, e.g. closing a certain app is more likely to crash, please let us know.

I've started seeing this since my last OS update. For me it sometimes happens after several days of use of my laptop, mostly after wakeup from sleep mode. I have several instances of the terminal open, and when I try to open another one, they all go away. journal: ``` kernel: xfce4-terminal[2179480]: segfault at 1 ip 00007f044660897f sp 00007fff0b221230 error 4 in libgdk-3.so.0.2407.7[7f044659b000+79000] kernel: Code: 44 00 00 48 89 f3 48 89 ee ff 15 6c fe 05 00 48 85 c0 74 ca 48 85 db 74 52 67 e8 3c ff ff ff 48 89 c6 48 8b 03 48 85 c0 74 05 <48> 39 30 74 0d 48 89 df ff 15 33 fa 05 00 85 c0 74 2f 4c 8b a5 80 audit[2179480]: ANOM_ABEND auid=1000 uid=1000 gid=1000 ses=1 pid=2179480 comm="xfce4-terminal" exe="/usr/bin/xfce4-terminal" sig=11 res=1 audit[1]: SERVICE_START pid=1 uid=0 auid=4294967295 ses=4294967295 msg='unit=systemd-coredump@110-1848412-0 comm="systemd" exe="/usr/lib/systemd/systemd" hostname=? addr=? terminal=? res=success' systemd[1]: Started Process Core Dump (PID 1848412/UID 0). systemd-coredump[1848413]: Process 2179480 (xfce4-terminal) of user 1000 dumped core. Oh sorry, I realize that my problem is with xfce4-terminal, while this thread was about xfce4-panel (which I don't use). Still the symptoms and traces look similar...
