Action button on panel

Selecting 'Shutdown' from action button drop-down performs nothing, not even an error message.

Shutdown accomplished by opening terminal and direct command.
Comment 1 Larry Johnson 2019-08-18 18:22:09 CEST
Update: "performs nothing" should read "only the 30 second popup window opens, and when pressing 'Shutdown' button nothing happens".

Any related message(s) in your ~/.xsession-errors file? Anything in the system log?

Comment 4 Larry Johnson 2019-08-18 23:20:02 CEST
Nothing in ~/.xsession-errors, systemd journal.

Also Panel/Applications/Log Out/Log out USERNAME popup window button:'Shut Down' does nothing
Comment 5 Theo Linkspfeifer editbugs 2019-08-19 10:54:12 CEST
What operating system is that? Does it work when using another user account?

Does the command "xfce4-session-logout --fast --halt" generate any terminal output?
Comment 6 Larry Johnson 2019-08-19 16:47:20 CEST
[ljohnson@KISE-066 ~]$ xfce4-session-logout --fast --halt
Unable to init server: Could not connect: Connection refused
Comment 7 Larry Johnson 2019-08-19 18:18:21 CEST
Manjaro x86_64 updated daily, no other user, Mythtv client HDTV HTPC , is one of four manjaro systems at site.
manjaro is a rolling release based on archlinux
Comment 8 Larry Johnson 2019-08-22 00:15:05 CEST
Problem exacerbated, no 'suspend' also failing to perform.
Comment 9 Theo Linkspfeifer editbugs 2019-08-22 11:40:51 CEST
That is no surprise. The error message in comment #6 indicates a fundamental problem with your Xfce session.

Did you check if the bug is present on a different user account?
Comment 10 Larry Johnson 2019-08-22 16:15:13 CEST
There is only one user, me on this system. Do you want me to create a new user?
Comment 11 Larry Johnson 2019-08-28 23:43:55 CEST
Added new user, XFCE shut down using action button drop-down.
Comment 12 Larry Johnson 2019-08-29 00:13:58 CEST
Apparently XFCE will not shutdown or suspend while Mythtv client is running.
Comment 13 Theo Linkspfeifer editbugs 2019-08-29 03:15:28 CEST
Maybe this is the same issue as reported in bug 14429.
Comment 14 Larry Johnson 2019-09-03 17:47:04 CEST
Likely cause is Mythtv not responding to Shutdown.

Suggest closing this bug.
Comment 15 Larry Johnson 2019-09-03 17:48:13 CEST
Should read Mythtv client
Comment 16 Theo Linkspfeifer editbugs 2019-09-16 21:34:48 CEST
There is no error dialog presented to the user, so I think we should keep the report open.
