Dock window shadows should lay under any other windows except root (desktop) window. At least its should not cover active window.
I would be a nice improvement indeed. But is it even possible due to the attributes of the dock window ? It seems that a window declared as with "_NET_WM_WINDOW_TYPE_DOCK" will always stay on top, and its shadow by the way.
