E.g. I have engrampa and file-roler on my system.
--> Select Dialog is shown on "create archive" but is not shown on "extract"

Now I uninstall file-roller (sudo apt-get purge file-roller)
--> No select Dialog, engrampa is used, thats fine.

Now I re-install file-roller and restart thunar (kill as well the daemon)
--> Still no select Dialog

Is this a regression? The selected archive manager is stored in the mimeapps.list file.

I dont think it is a regression ... at least I remeber having trouble with the dialog before.

Me and Andre Miranda just noticed that the dialog is missing in some cases while testing something else.

Always show the dialog, but add a check box to never ask again (xfconf property)?
Comment 4 alexxcons editbugs 2019-07-15 22:40:02 CEST
Yes, good idea "save decision + never ask again" via xfconf property IMO would be nice.
If it is done via mimeapps.list curretnly, you may have different archivers per file-type ... not what I would expect.

Something about the dialog still is wired: IIRC I got the dialog repeadetly, on each "create archive" when using engrampa ... but wait possibly the reason for that was "different file types " :)
