Created attachment 8393 Screenshot of error msg Using Kubuntu 19.04 and then switching to the XFCE4 desktop install and use. When trying to use a preferred application a message is shown. A screen shot of the error is attached. I have this problem on two computers. The error shown was after clicking on an HTTP URL. May be a problem with the packing on Kubuntu 19.04 beta.
Do you have libexo-1-0 installed? This packages contains the missing executable: https://packages.ubuntu.com/disco/amd64/libexo-1-0/filelist
No, libexo-1-0 was not installed... and installing it fixed the problem. This must be a packaging error with kubuntu. Will report it there. Thanks, this can be closed.
I don't know Ubuntu very well, but I think there is a meta package for xfce, maybe this one: https://packages.ubuntu.com/disco/xfce4
I think I found the problem... at https://packages.ubuntu.com/disco/thunar-volman This loads libexo-2-0 but no mention of libexo-1-0 Have reported the problem to Kubuntu bugs Thanks.
