Plugin icons over the taskbar shadow/limiter

The attached image tells basically everything (the second icon is almost invisible, but it's the wifi icon of NetworkManagerApplet). Just a funny observation: if I open the taskbar properties, the icons are rendered properly, but the moment I close it everything is back to the ugly style :(

I found out that it can be fixed by downgrading gnome-themes-standard from 3.22.3 to 3.18.0. Odd :D
