My linux course (edx) said: sudo telinit 3 switch to lower runlevel (without graphic support) and telinit 5 switch back. So far so clear. But after changing back, I cannot start the session again. I get the messages: Failed to connect to socket /run/user/1000/ bus: Connection refused. Then one have to click "Quit" and get an explanation: The saved session cannot determined. Possible reasons are: Adjusting Preferences of D-Bus, the evironment $XDG_CONFIG_DIRS is not correct (must contain '/'), the xfce4-session has been not correctly installed. I'm just a newbee. All I can say: $XDG_CONFIG_DIRS seem to be correct (/etc/xdg/xdg-xfce:/etc/xdg:/etc/xdg) . I can start an user, which has not been used after starting the system. So, what to do? thanks and greeting mm
Not sure what can be the problem based on the description. Also please print the versions of xfce / xfce4-session Reassign to session.
