I'm running xfwm4, no compositor. In Settings > Terminal > Drop-down > Opacity I have text that says:

> Sorry, your Window Manager does not support compositing: Opacity setting is not available.

No objections on opacity being unavailable. But maybe change the wording a bit? English is not native to me, but some possible proposals:

> Sorry, your Window Manager does not have compositing: Opacity setting is not available.

> Sorry, cannot set transparency for your Compositor: Opacity setting is not available.

One more proposal:
Opacity setting is not available because compositing is disabled or your Window Manager does not support it.

(No need to be sorry IMO).
