Created attachment 8089 Video with the bug. Hi! I notice Thunar takes a lot of time to load and show files when the folder has a lot of files. I know... a big amount of files requires a bit amount of time to load, but, maybe it could be possible to firstly load the files and represent them with generic type icons, and then, calling tumbler to generate specific preview icons. Sending a video with an example. Thunar takes almost 20 seconds to show any icon.
Thanks for reporting. However I cannot reproduce the bug that easy, tried with 3200 folders. For thumbnails afaik it is done the way you tell. First some generic placeholder icon is shown, until the thumbnail got loaded. But maybe it is different for remote file systems ... looks like you are using a ftp mountpoint ? Maybe you can help to clearify: - There are only folders inside comics ? Or as well pictures / pdfs / videos ? - They are located on a ftp mount, not locally ? - What type causes the most lag for you ? Does the type matter ? - Is the bug gone if you select to show thumbnails for local files only ? - Is the bug gone if you select to show no thumbnails ? - Can you reproduce the bug with nautilus ? - Can you reproduce the bug on your local file-system ?

Mechanic hardrive. - What type causes the most lag for you ? Does the type matter ? Yes. Browsing the folders is more fluid than browsing files. - Is the bug gone if you select to show thumbnails for local files only ? Thunar configures for thumbnails only for local files. - Is the bug gone if you select to show no thumbnails ? Nope. It spend almost the same time. Once the folder content is loaded, browsing files is faster. - Can you reproduce the bug with nautilus ? I don't have nautilus installed, but I've testing with CAJA, SPACEFM and PCMANFM and Caja and PCManfm are more or less as faster than Thunar. But SpaceFM was like a lightning, it load all the folder content instantly. I hope this information could help you. Let me know if you need some information. Thanks a lot, Alex!!
Thanks for the details! Will try to build a reproducer. Yet another question: Does the delay of 20seconds happen each time you browse to the folder ? Or is it only for the first time you open it ?
It happens the first time Thunar enters the folder. For one moment it looks like works fine, but if I exit from folder (to a subfolder, for example), I wait for some time and I try to enter again, the delay appears one more time. Thanks!
