blocked File operation progress dialog box

Hello,

I have a problem but first

1. My configuration: Xubuntu 18.04 with 4.15.0-36-generic kernel running on a Lenovo Thinkpad X230. To this server I have added the following line in /etc/fstab:

//10.0.0.117/html       /media/dev        cifs defaults,uid=1000,gid=1000,credentials=/home/vlad/.smbdevcredentials,username=vlad 0 0

this is mapping my dev server to /media/dev

2. What I am trying to do: is to copy the contents of a folder inside /media/dev, for example all the files from /media/dev/1/ to /media/dev/2/ with Thunar.

3. What is happening: the Thunar starts copying, the first subfolder is created, the first file is copied and then it blocks. The "File Operation Progres" does not move. If I press the close button it minimizes to tray and stays there. If I am pressing the cancel button, nothing is happening. I have made also a screenshot

p.s. I do not know if this should be filed under Thunar or under Panel.... sorry :-)

Very likely Thunar is freezing, so I'm moving to the correct product.

Could you please try the following?
$ thunar -q
start thunar from terminal
try the same steps and watch out for error messages

Hi! Thanks for correcting the category.

I have done the steps. Thunar does not verbose anything... it just freezes...

I can close the Thunar window with no error message. If I kill the file progress window with xkill than I receive the following message in terminal: thunar: Fatal IO error 11 (Resource temporarily unavailable) on X server :0.0.

Print-screens attached.

the message after xkill on the file progress window

That error seems to be caused by the forced process exit.
So, it hard to tell just from the symptoms, I need to try to reproduce with a similar environment.
This might take some time...

Dear Andre,

I receive similar results with a share from a WD Mycloud Mirror gen2... so in my opinion it will be easy to reproduce with a smb share mounted in fstab

Also if it helps I can give you the smb configuration that I have for the network share from the initial submit.

best regards,
Vlad
