Good day! Scenario 1. 1. Open 'sftp://host' in Thunar. 2. Run command: 'ssh -O exit host' OR kill the underlying ssh process with SIGTERM. 3. Refresh Thunar window. 4. Result: an empty folder view and "unknown" icon in address bar. Scenario 2. 1. Open 'sftp://host' in Thunar. 2. Kill the underlying ssh process with SIGKILL. 3. Refresh Thunar window. 4. Result: Thunar crashes.
Thanks for reporting and sorry for the late reply ! I dont get thunar to crash, using the proposed reproducer, neither using SIGKILL, nor SIGTERM. I tried with thunar 1.6.15, 1.6.17 and thunar 1.8.6 .. For me in both cases the result is: empty folder view and no icon in address bar any more, which IMO should be fine. Please could you attach a backtrace with debug symbols ? (Here a short manual on how to produce a meaningful backtrace: https://docs.xfce.org/contribute/bugs/starthttps://docs.xfce.org/contribute/bugs/start)
Hah, wait, I got it to crash ... I just missed the refresh for thunar 1.6.15, sorry. Seems like the crash got fixed meanwhile. I cannot reproduce on 1.8.6 or 1.6.17 while I now can reliably reproduce on 1.6.15. I'll close the bug ... please feel free to reopen if you still get crashes using 1.8.6 or 1.6.17 !
Yes, fixed in 1.6.17. Strange since I couldn't find relevant commit... P.S. On refresh (<F5>), instead of crash I get a blank directory view (without any error dialog). On "<Ctrl-L> + <Enter>" I get really refreshing of directory (via establishing a new connection). Is first case a bug or a feature?
Hmm, for sure not a feature .. some error dialog would be better. Though "blank directory" is not too bad ;)

Not a duplicate! In Thunar 1.8.9: 1. Open a tab; and second tab with sftp host; 2. Go to first tab; 3. Eject host; 4. Go to second tab; 5. Press <F5>. 6. Blank view!
I as well can reproduce that in 1.8.9, but it's already fixed on 4.14 branch and master. The fix just is not released as 1.8.10 yet .. please be patient :) AndreLDM wanted to do a release this / next weekend if he has time. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 15961 ***
Yes, fixed in 1.8.10.
No bug #16246 is actual.
