When dragging a file/folder from Thunar to Thunar, or from the desktop to Thunar, we can no longer see the small icon that informs if we're copying or moving or creating a symlink. Tested with Thunar 1.8.0 and 1.8.1.
Odd, I can't reproduce this in any case (Thunar->Thunar, Thunar->Desktop, Desktop->Thunar). Are you using a Cursor theme different than Adwaita?
In fact I'm using Adwaita! You can reproduce this issue using Xubuntu Current (which has a live ISO that you can boot through a VM machine): http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/xubuntu/daily-live/current/ What's weird is that in my system (Porteus) old Thunar (1.6.15) works just nice; no problem whatsoever. Just by updating to Thunar 1.8.1 the issue appears. It may be some incompatibility between libs. What you think?
Created attachment 7829 screenrecord I must be missing something obvious. Please see the attached video, it was recorded on latest Xubuntu daily build.
That's really odd! So sorry for this, but I could swear Xubuntu had the same behavior as the Xfce module I'm working on Porteus, which has the issue I reported here, but probably related to other packages that Xfce depends on. Do you know which packages this functionality depends on?
Basically gtk/glib and Xfce libraries: https://git.xfce.org/xfce/thunar/tree/configure.ac.in#n145 Which versions are you using? Could you reproduce the bug with Xubuntu VM or not? What about Porteus, is it possible to run it on a VM and reproduce this bug?
Yeah, sure! Porteus is a live distro. Here's a testing build that you can boot through a VM: http://www.mediafire.com/file/pb9938114daumqd/Porteus-XFCE-v4.0-x86_64-test.iso I've just tested this iso and the icon issue is totally reproducible ^
I just ran that iso in a VM, the culprit seems to be the cursor theme (default -> win8), when I changed to "Paper" it worked as expect. By the way, this cursor theme (win8) seems to be rather broken, even when you try to resize a window you can notice the cursor is flipped. Closing, reopen if you're still have problems.
