Uh, never noticed that. Seems to depends on the used icon theme. Afaik 1.8.0 uses symbolic icons, where 1.6.x does not. Actually I like the size of the new ones. The old ones did not fully use the available space. So IMO 1.8.0 is the correct size ;)
