OS: Linux, Xubuntu 17.10 inxi -F summary here https://i.imgur.com/E6a2RBH.png Summary: xfce4-power-manager does not extend its "lid close" functionality to the TTYs. It works well when the desktop is on front. Bad: Inconsistency Bad: No way of controlling TTY lid behaviour from the GUI. Description: Having changed the 'When laptop lid is closed' from 'Suspend' to 'Switch off display' it works on the X server. This does not extend to the TTYs like Gnome's power manager does. When changing to the TTY your changes don't carry and the laptop will shutdown when the lid is closed. Uncommenting systemd settings (HandleLidSwitch=ignore) on the other hand allows the laptop to stay open while the lid is closed and TTY is open, but gives a black screen when logging back to the desktop after closing the lid. Steps to Reproduce: 1) Have a laptop 2) Open xfce4-power-manager and turn both 'When laptop lid is closed:' options to 'Switch off display' 3) Close the lid on the desktop to test if it works correctly 4) Ctrl+Alt+1 to TTY1, log in and close the laptop lid. Actual Results: Laptop went to hibernation Expected Results: Laptop should have stayed powered up. Build Date & Hardware: inxi -F summary here https://i.imgur.com/E6a2RBH.png
https://i.imgur.com/VGepyp0.png Apparently I accidenlly gave my desktop inxi and I don't seem to be able to edit the report.
The power manager only handles the active seat, which is the TTY your session is running in. All other seats are (likely) handled by systemd/logind (if you have that).
