If thunarx.pdf can not be build because of missing dependency, then it shouldn't be build in first place. The configure file should determine, whether the requirements are met and if this is not the case, then skip building it rather than running into a trap. The Thunar tar file made by "make dist" from the Thunar Git checkout has been used.
The issue has been resolved.
