Description Alexander Butenko 2018-01-03 01:07:34 CET
I were trying to figure out what to do with lot of opened tabs as having more then 5-6 tabs open makes tab title pretty much useless so you are ending up pressing 'Next tab' over and over.
Im thinking about a 'tab list' window in which you can search by title name and which you can open by a hotkey.
Something like 'Tab' menu in the menubar but a separate window with a search editbox.
So to find a tab, you will press 'alt+t', then type 'root' to show all the tabs which contains 'root' in its name.

Hi Alexander,
This might be an interesting idea, thanks!
However, could you please let me understand why the existing tabs list (under the "Tabs" menu) doesn't work for you? Is the search functionality the only feature that you're missing?

Another thing that I could do is showing tab bar scroll arrows when the number of tabs reaches certain value. Gnome-terminal does that, and I think it looks better than keeping to reduce tabs' width, as it's happening now.

Arrow button wont help much as thats still will require lot of time to find the right tab.

Tabs menu looks good, but yes, search is the most important part.
Say the way im launching apps is pressing Win+R to open xfce-appfinder, typing 'fire', hitting Enter. That opens firefox in a matter of seconds.

The same way I wanted to have for switching tabs. Say I press Alt-T to open tablist window, typing 'root', pressing Down, Enter to focus first tab which contains root in the tab name.
