xfce4-hardware-monitor-plugin compared to other plugins that do support transparency

Neither of the current options allow for the viewer to have a transparent background.
Setting it to "Use panel background" does make it pick a color from the panel, but it's just that: a fully-opaque color.
If the viewer is set to use the panel background, it makes sense that it would match whatever the panel is set to, be it image, color and/or transparency.

A transparent background on the graphs would allow the panel to be uniformly semi-transparent throughout, and also let users design their own borders/backgrounds using the background image setting already built into the panel.

I'm not sure if transparency is possible with the systems being used, but as far as I can tell there are a few possible ways to go about this if it is:
1. Allow the user to set a semi-transparent background color (user could set opacity to zero) (possibly re-string "use panel background" to clarify that it only picks a color)
2. Change "use panel background" to be transparent and let the panel image through
3. Add a "transparent" option

This isn't something I'd use, but is something I can look into the version after the next (painfully slow progression on the working on the next version as it is).
