Greetings,

some guys suggested me to reach you out through the bug tracker, mine is just a wishlist level bug.

I would like to suggest a new kind of launcher that behaves like a dock, it could be a functional work around to have a dock behavior in the panel. The idea is to combine the dock launchers with the widows list plugin, it should just modify the windows list applet to permit to pin a window as dock launcher.

A dock launcher works as a dock but manages only one application, so I called it "Dock Launcher"; as all the docks has a state: inactive or active; and can handles multiple windows.
I prepared a mock-up to better explain the idea.

Thanks in advance,

Daniel

Hi, the idea is clear and there is the (abandoned) xfce4-taskbar-plugin that tried to implement this. However pinning apps is hard as there is no easy way to determine that two windows belong to the same application. bamf is a service that tries to provide a basis for solving this problem.

If this will be implemented, it will happen in a separate panel plugin, not in an internal plugin (otherwise the panel would get a dependency to bamf, which we don't want).
