A new menu item should be added o the ExoHelperChooser widget, named "Install
new Application...". This item will be visible if the distribution provides an
"exo-helper-package-manager-0.3" program/script in $libexecdir.

What about trying if the org.freedesktop.PackageKit name has an owner?

Probably not a good idea (yet) since the dbus interface does not support spawning a graphical interface and gnome-packagekit has no command line interface to open a windows with search arguments.
