screenshot of the menu bar with 4 workspace panel icons, NOT right-justified

Xfce used to place the 4 virtual panel icons at the very right side of the menu bar. Since about 2 years the panel is now placed immediately rightwards after the last application's icon. It always takes me a while to mouse mouse to switch between different workspaces due to that. Please restore the old behaviour: workspaces should be always at the very right.

This is a simple panel configuration issue. If you want your workspace plugin on the right, move it there. You can add a transparent separator set to "expand" to get the workspace plugin to be right-aligned.

Cannot right-justify even after adding separator bar

I still cannot right-justify the workspace switcher windows and also to note, now my X and xfce4-panel take 30% of CPU for several hours.

Please specify more clearly how to move the Workspace switcher to the right. Why isn't this a *default* anymore?

Did you configure the separator to "Expand"?

That is an option that was introduced in 4.12 and the default behavior with respect to separators changed from 4.10 to 4.12 (before they expanded by default).
