I think about this use case. If I resize a window in height, then the window is maximized in high when my "dragging" mouse pointer reaches the bottom (or top) border of the desktop. The same feature could be available if I resize the window in width, then the window is maximized in width when my "dragging" mouse pointer reaches the left or right border of the desktop.
