today i update all package to gtk3 version and i notice that all menu are blinking or disappears. i found that responsible for this is settings in settings/windows manager tweaks/compositor/enable display compositing. if i disable compositing all windows or menu works.

if someone have the same problem i found solution. i change xfce windows manager (xfwm4) to metacity simply:
sudo pacman -S metacity
and add to autostart
metacity --replace

I had the same issue while I was using video-intel driver. The problem disappeared by switching to modesetting - so apparently this seems to be a problem either of intel driver itself or at least of xfce compositor with intel driver.

Encountering this on gentoo. Intel video driver. Turning off compositing stops the blinking

-but also-

when running without consolekit, there is no blinking; i.e. adding "--with-ck-launch" to startxfce4 triggers this bug for me. startxfce4 with nothing added runs fine even with compositor enabled.
