Approach that does not seem to work

While this is not critical, it is still worth noting that in the 4.13.0 panel all external Gtk2 plugins don't have working enter/leave opacity.

Unfortunately the (simple) approach I tried did not work (see patch attached).

As we drop Gtk2 support with 4.16, this won't get fixed anymore.
