when I startup my laptop, linux mint 17.1 xfce, just before the desktop should appear, the screen goes black. at startup, the login prompt appears for a second, then the mint logo, the mouse pointer, all normal, but then the screen goes gray, the menubar appears without icons,and then the whole screen goes black. the only way then is to close the lid, wait for a while, open it again. then the screensaver is activated. I fill in my password, then the desktop appears. and is functional again. I do not know how to fix this problem. also, I am a novice with linux.
Hendri, do you still have this problem with a fresh installation of Linux Mint XFCE?
