Lets say some danish users visit xfce.org and try to select danish translation in the language selector drop down. But danish is/was not there at the time so they end up selecting english. Then a cookie called lang is set to en (english). Then i translate the website on Transifex and we get danish translation to work on the menu and "Danish" is added to the language selector... But... Because the users already a a cookie set with "en" the website will not show the danish translation and the users are not informed that the website is not available in danish. Unless they check the drop down from time to time, but why would they, danish was not there the last time. So maybe offer a "Browser preferences" option or maybe display a none annoying message like "This website is also available in X" depending on the browsers preferences (navigator.languages) so users can know about the translation.
