I can't reproduce this bug, please provide some details such as mousepad version(is it from the distro repository or git, GTK2 or GTK3), which distribution you're using and its version, the frequency on which the crash happens and if needed the steps to reproduce.

This happens every time for me. Hope this helps :)
(In reply to derrend from comment #2) > The application freezes when the 'file' toolbar option is selected. This > happens every time for me. Do you mean the 'File' menu item in the main menu bar (the items like File, Edit, Search, View, etc. just under the window manager titlebar)?
Yes I do meant the File, Edit, Search, View, etc bar. Sorry, I found that difficult to describe for some reason :p
(In reply to derrend from comment #4) > Yes I do meant the File, Edit, Search, View, etc bar. > Sorry, I found that difficult to describe for some reason :p So when you click 'File' in the menubar to expand it, rather than the submenu popping up, the whole application freezes? Are you using any kind of GTK+ modules that move the menu bar up into the main panel (like Unity or GNOME3 has) or is the menu in the proper location inside the Mousepad window?
Created attachment 6865 desktop screenshot No modules, it was a fresh xubuntu install. All the other bar options work fine. I can't click on the 'File' option, as soon as I hover the mouse over it the app freezes. Can't minimise the app or select another window. The mouse pointer remains mobile but the whole desktop becomes frozen. I have to log into another tty and kill the app.
Update: I just installed a fresh ubuntu image into virtualbox and did not have the same issue. It looks as though the issue is specific to my situation after all.
*xubuntu that is.
A complete guess, but what if you change the GTK+ theme?
Changed the theme to numix but no difference. Same problem as before.
If possible, run Xubuntu live boot via a disk or pendrive, check if the crash still happens.
