The shortcut works for a few days (~100 times) but then the window won't "close", only open. So the only option is to Alt+Tab or to restart the whole system. I have tried so many things, including compiling my own version, but nothing has worked. The problem is very persistent, almost like it's set to happen after X amount of times. This is in fact the only reason I ever have to restart my system.

I have the shortcut set to <F1>. I've used that key for other things earlier without issues, and I have tried other keys to compare them w no noticeable difference.

This issue is similar to https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10083 except the fact that the area does not become un-clickable. I do however have to do a full system restart for the shortcut to work again. I filed a new bug since that bug was 3 years old.

Is it possible for you to try a gtk3 version - 0.6.90(91) or git?
I've closed and opened it around 500 times now, and it's working fine.

I've now tested this on 0.6.3 and 0.6.91 with the same results.

I've recompiled version 0.6.91 and tested it for five days now, the shortcut stopped working yesterday. I think the fault lies somewhere else because this time it wouldn't even show up when I used the hotkey, I had to click the icon in the xfce4-panel, twice, to make it show.

I just noticed that a newer version was uploaded, I'll compile it (0.6.92) and use it all of next week, and get back to you with the results.
Thanks!

After I compiled version 0.6.92 it I forgot to remove the cuser onfig files, and now the keyboard shortcut doesn't even work once.

Doesn't that mean that the fault lies with something else, like xfwm?

It seems I can reproduce the issue in Debian system with Xfce under a VM: after a number of times being shown/hidden, the terminal window is not shown anymore though the panel icon is still there.
I will investigate the issue, thanks for reporting.

Could you please try the git version? I've just fixed some issues in code, and I think it should be working properly now.

Should be fixed in 0.8.0.
