When Xfce4-power-manager unlocks after password the touchpad stop working. It happened after last partial upgrade. Hey, this bug report cannot be valid because xfce4-power-manager does not handle screen locking at all. If you're using Xubuntu you're likely using light-locker, which switches to a different VT for locking (which is a quite secure option) and that can - with some hardware - lead to issues like the one you're describing. You could try another locker that doesn't do VT switching, e.g. xscreensaver.
