I consider xfce4-iconbox to be a part of xfce, at least as much (if not more) that xscreensaver. xscreensaver is started in xinitrc, but xfce4-iconbox is strangely missing. Any chance it can be included?
YMMV but you can customize the starup sequence by: 1) copying /etc/xfce4/xinitrc to $HOME/.xfce4/xinitrc 2) chmod +x $HOME/.xfce4/xinitrc 3) Edit $HOME/.xfce4/xinitrc and spawn xfce4-iconbox BTW, xfce4-session should run xfce4-iconbox by default.
