Because of some bad error handling in a big PHP app, I have to dump the PHP backtrace to a file before it crashes (PHP). This produces a file called bt.txt that is changing really often (each 10 PHP ticks http://php.net/manual/en/function.register-tick-function.php). So each 10 ticks, the content of this file is renewed and its size changes. This makes Thunar freeze if it's opened on the containing folder of bt.txt. I tried the following cases : + In the directory of bt.txt with the focus on an other file => Thunar freezes but comes back when everything is done. + In the directory of bt.txt with the focus on bt.txt => Freeze and never recover. I have to kill it (this is why i report this bug) + In a parent of the directory of bt.txt => no problem Please tell me if a can provide more information.
What you describe fits my situation, too. I'm experiencing random but inevitable lock ups of Thunar when using gEDA, an electronics design suite. I usually right click a project file to run gEDA schematics editor from Thunar using a custom command. Randomly but surely Thunar eventually freezes after a couple of files change. I've experienced this issue with gEDA almost exclusively so far. And I use gEDA *a lot* (for my job).
I'd say this bug and #13472 share the same issue...
... and I'm using Thunar 1.6.11 (Xfce 4.12) on Manjaro Gellivara 17.0.1 64-bits.
Same problem. Debian 9 Stretch 32 bits Thunar versión: 1.6.11-1
It should be fixed with Thunar 1.6.12.
Probably related to bug 13481, should be fixed in 1.6.12, if not reopen.
