OVerview Using a laptop with external display ports wired to nVidia optimus, i use intel-virtual-output to connect external screens. The are thereafter configurable with xrandr as VIRTUAL1, VIRTUAL2 etc.... Since I have to run intel-virtual-output in foreground to more easily manage the created second xserver, a bash script automation would not be a reliable answer. This worked in Gnome Shell, but because of some compositing changes, intel-virtual-output was not working anymore. Steps to reproduce 1) connect previously configured external monitor 2) start intel-virtual-output Actual results Selection screen for handling external monitor or no response depending on whether the option was selected in the settings menu. Expected results Last configuration should be saved and reused. System xfce 4.12.0-3 on 4.0.7-2-ARCH I would be glad for any response. Since it is quite cumbersome to have to reconfigure the monitor after every reboot.
This has been implemented now: https://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-settings/commit/?id=b692780cdce46447cebb4af410da5b0b355e6eb5
