If I open Mousepad as root it warns me with a red stripe that I am root and could damage things.

This warning contains typos.

Is:

"Achtung, Sie arbeiten mit Administartorrechten und können Ihr System beschädigen."

Should be:

"Achtung, Sie arbeiten mit Administratorrechten und können Ihr System beschädigen."

Mind the first "r" in Administratorrechten.

This seems to be fixed as:
"Achtung, Sie benutzen das Systemverwalterkonto und können Ihr System beschädigen."[1]

This will be available in the next mousepad release.
