STR: 0. Create 2 files in a new folder via thunar: "name02" and "name03" 1. CTRL-A to select all 2. F2 to rename 3. Choose `Numbering` as the rewriting scheme with settings: - Number Format: `01, 02, 03, ...` - Starts With: `1` - Text Format: `Text - Number` - Text: `name` 4. Choose `Name only` from the dropdown 5. Click `Rename Files` Result: Throws a warning: `Failed to rename "name03" to "name02"` It appears to be failing because the new and old names overlap. If that is the problem, perhaps a temporary name should be used (temporary names are obviously not ideal but this is a really nice tool and it should always work). The problem is not obvious especially if you have lots of files, say "file070" to "file300".
Oh, this is with Thunar 1.6.3 in Xfce 4.10
