Plus unable to select an open window. When clicked on, just returns to desktop, not selecting the selected window.
I am only able to navigate the top left hand of the screen. I am unable to move an icon or select from the app list anything outside of that area.

Yes, that sounds pretty bad and I understand that you cannot use xfdashboard with these bugs. You said you are running (X)Ubuntu 14.04 so I guess that you have also Clutter at version 1.16 installed. If so then please update xfdashboard 0.4.2 because a nasty bug was solved with this release that the fullscreen windows of xfdashboard did not match the screen size internally making dragging icons beyond an area of 640x480 pixel impossible. It is usual that even clicking icons like the close button of a window does not work anymore. Please ignore the "Setting deprecated property 'unmapped-window-icon-gravity' at XfdashboardWindowContent, use 'unmapped-window-icon-anchor-point' instead" messages spamming your terminal window especially if one of the default themes is used. I'll try to find a better way when to print this message. Last but not least, the problem when navigating the application menu. I have currently no idea what could cause it. Maybe I try to set an unnamed application title or description of an application or a malformed desktop application item was handled. You could try to get a lot of debug messages with G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=xfdashboard xfdashboard but be warned, it's getting huge. But if you do it and redirect the output into a file and compress it afterwards, I could that a look. But please try xfdashboard 0.4.2 at first. I really think it will solve most the problems.
