It would be nice to be able to manage events by category. For example, if I want to change the alarm notification settings for all 30+ birthday events I've created so far, I'd have to change each one individually. Same for anniversaries and bill due dates. When creating a new event, I'd like to be able to "attach" it to a group or category. Same for my Todo entries.

I imagine the user interface would proceed as follows: either with a button or the menu, the user would create a new category and specify it as either an Event category or Todo category. All of the settings in the Alarm and Recurrence tabs would be managed by the category. From the General tab, Categories and Priority would also be managed by the category, as well as colors. (For Event categories, it also seems as if Availability should be managed by the category.) Then, from within the Category window/interface, the user would create a new item. Each new item would separately hold all other information (Title, Location, Start, End, etc.).

Of course, Orage should still have uncategorized Events and Todo items, unchanged from how things are now. For each item, Orage would check to see if it belongs to a category. If not, it looks at the item to decide what action to take. If so, it looks at the item's category to decide what action to take.

Perhaps an advanced feature would be, if the user decides to delete a category populated with Event or Todo items, the user has a choice to either delete all of the items in the category or to convert them to uncategorized items.

Yep, good idea. And not that bad to code.

The orage project is not maintained anymore and has been archived. Closing bugs.
