Typing file name for quick search starts on press of second letter

When I have Thunar opened and I start typing a word to find a file/folder that starts with those letter, first letter I type is omitted, and my search starts with the second letter of word I type. E.g.

if I start type "video"
"v" will be omitted, and thunar will look for file names starting with "ideo"

I noticed that this happens every time I start Thunar and use the feature for the first time. When I then press Esc key and start typing again - it works fine. (or I switch folders and start typing - OK as well)

Switching Thunar off and on - and first search gets the error again.

my Thunar version is 1.6.6 I am using Xubuntu 15.04 but I noticed this error even before upgrade from 14.10
I cannot recall when did it started.

Works fine here.

I just wanted to chime in, because I was having the same problem Chris described. In my case, though, is this has nothing to do with Thunar. Rather, it was some kind of conflict between GTK widgets and IBus. When using IBus as my input method, any GTK widget that allowed searching would miss the first letter of the search. I guess IBus was eating it somehow. I tested this with a simple TreeView app (http://scentric.net/tutorial/ch-treeview.html).

I'm doing further research to see if it's XFCE-specific. So far I've got a vanilla Xubuntu install with IBus as the input method, and that's enough to trigger the bug. I'm going to see if it happens with Ubuntu, with a non-Ubuntu-based XFCE install, etc. Not sure how deep this rabbit hole goes...
