XFCE4.12 logs out when changing the desktop resolution or setting multiple monitors and leaves one unable to login. When logging in from then on, the desktop logs back out to the greeter.

The card is a gm107 NVidia and the nouveau driver is used. Though this is in a state of development I have tried the latest drivers and have confirmed with the devs on the irc channel that it might be an xfce problem. On switching to a vt, and deleting the file /home/user/.config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/displays.xml, I can log back in.

The problem reasserts itself when I try and change the resolution. The kernel is 3.19.0-14 low latency (Ubuntu studio) but I have tried the latest 4.0 kernel from the nouveau dev team at cgit.freedesktop.org/~airlied as recommended and acceleration works, but still same problem.

Ubuntu studio latest daily build (pre release version of vivid vervet) on mac pro 2006 with gtx 750 ti NVidia

Many thanks
