After updating to SuSE 10.0 which includes gtk 2.8.2, the taskbar shows too long
strings as shown in the screenshot.

This is very annoying.

What do I need to update? I checked out xfce-utils in branch xfce_4_2 and the
problem is still persistent. Do I have to update libraries?

You need to update 'libxfcegui4'
