X starts, then reports xfce-panel crashed, on and on. Only killable swapping to terminal.
Additional information: Tested on 3 machines and one VMWare, always 9.1 fresh instalations with KDE 3.1.x and XFree 4.x (the defaults in 9.1), installed from tgz precompiled packages.
Do you have libstartup-notification installed?
Can you provide a backtrace?
Unable to reproduce on PIV/vmware/32mb, sorry. I
I can reproduce this error on Debian Unstable. It occurs with xfce4.0.3 *.debs and with xfce4.0.4 compiled from source, too. I have libstartup-notification installed.
ismael, any updates on this? Roger, the libstartup-notification problem is Slackware-specific (no dependency management). Do you see any error messages to .xsession-errors or the console?
Unable to reproduce, I retried on a PI/233/32Mb and it worked fine. This time libstartup-notification was up-to-date version, previous time i
Today I built xfce 3.0.5 from source and the panel crashed again on start-up. Then I renamed my local .xfce4 directory and everything worked fine! After that I copied back my old config files one after the other into the new .xfce4 directory and came to the conclusion that the panel crash was caused by my old xfce4rc. Is there an e-mail address to which I can send the problematic xfce4rc? I would not publish it at this place.
Please send it to jasper and myself. jasper at xfce dot org fourdan at xfce dot org Olivier.
Ok, the problem seems to be with loading tiff images. This is a problem with gdk-pixbuf that we cannot solve. Roger, unless you have more info that indicates a panel problem I will close this bug. Can you agree with that?
Ismaels bug is not reproducible. Rogers bug is most likely a bug in gtk.
