If a key involved in changing layouts is also selected as the compose key, one cannot change layouts anymore. Compose overrides changing layouts. Examples:

Change layout: Alt+Caps Lock
Compose key: Caps Lock
-> Changing layout doesn't work

Change layout: Menu
Compose Key: Menu
-> Doesn't make much sense, and also doesn't work.

this is not immmediately obvious to the end-user. The best solution I think is to gray out or hide keys in the Compose drop-down selector that have already been used in Change layout and vice-versa.
