Sometimes Xkb plugin forgets all settings completely, but much more frequently, it rearranges the order of keyboard layouts. This happens either every time I either suspend my computer or log out in any way. This issue is VERY annoying, for two reasons: 1. I use US layout 90% of the time, and it's annoying when it is not set as default layout. 2. If US layout is not the topmost layout, it breaks keyboard shortcuts in some applications, e.g. Inkscape.
What version of xkb plugin are you using?

Oh, I see - you shouldn't be using 0.5.6 with xfce 4.12; 4.12 requires xkb plugin 0.7.0 or later (0.7.1 is the latest available atm). BTW, regarding losing shortcuts in some apps, chances are it's not directly related to xkb-plugin - all it does is setting the XKB layout according to your preferences, i.e., you'll get the same behavior if you set the layout manually with setxkbmap.
