Would it be easy and/or better to turn the mess into a configuration channel?
After reviewing this, it looks like GKeyfile is the most efficient standard and non-bloated way to maintain configuration currently. Its taken me so long to do other tasks associated with the next version, that I'm going to postpone rewriting the configuration management code to the next version.
