Hi,

I think it would be much better to use mencoder for the conversion of media files since it's much more lightweight, it's also not so fragmented like gstreamer eg good, bad, ugly, ugliest, ....whatever

Patches are welcome! The code supports several encoding methods, so of course it would be nice to add an mencoder option. But I don't have the time for it.
