Description Steve Dodier-Lazaro editbugs 2014-11-04 13:40:07 CET
Current behaviour:
When clicking on the Open Location menu item, focus is correctly transferred to the location bar where the location can be typed. However, no visual feedback is given to the user and so it can be hard to realise that something has happened and the feature can look broken to users unfamiliar with Thunar.

Expected behaviour:
A stronger visual feedback allows the user to understand that focus has been transferred to the location bar and Thunar is waiting for text to be typed. This could be achieved by making the inner border of the location bar flash with e.g., the selected text bg colour.

I assume the menu entry exists only because of the "path bar" style. Its only purpose in the "toolbar" style is to change the shortcut.

I think the "open location" menu item can be removed for master.

The "path bar" of master already has such a functionality.

I checked how this works with Thunar 1.8.x:
- input focus is indicated by frame border color
- path entry is selected

Based on that I do no see a need to add more visual feedback.

Yes, I agree that the feedback should be sufficient. Thanks for clarification ! Closing as "WORKS FOR ME"

Not sure why I wrote that patch to remove the menu entry, a year ago .. I must have been asleep :)
