[bug] Desktop icons get reordered after restart

I only have stuff that I put manually on my desktop. I use an external screen on a laptop (the laptop's screen is turned off). And after each restart, my icons get ordered in some different order and moved to the left.

Hmm. So there's a couple ways to go about this. One is to wait until your distribution has xfdesktop 4.11.8 (for you, probably Xubuntu 14.10). Another option is to ask the Xubuntu devs if they have a PPA you can test with. Finally you can grab the code and build 4.11.8 from source. When you get it, just run this in a terminal window (it kills the current running version of xfdesktop and launches it again with debugging support enabled):

xfdesktop -Q; xfdesktop --enable-debug &

Then attach the output here so we can see why it's moving your icons around on you. We added runtime debug messages to help diagnose these issues.
