Description MR ZenWiz 2014-08-27 08:06:55 CEST
There are two icons in my window settings manager for my nvidia x-screen settings controls. One works (it is the correct path and command) and the other does not (it has gksu in the command, which is not part of Xubuntu 14.04).

I should be able to control which icons I want and which ones I don't, and edit the ones I have, but there is no way to do this that I can see.

I'm running Xubuntu 14.04 new install (fully updated) on a Phenom II x6.

Please fix or advise.

Thanks.

Xfwm4 has no control for anything NVidia, so this not coming from us.

Maybe try to report that to Xubuntu?

The problem isn't where the control comes from, it's that it appears in the Window Manager settings window, which has no edit controls.

Are you saying that the Window Manager (xfwm4) has no control over what appears in its settings window?

I'll post a link to a screenshot when I get home (can't do it from work - firewall issues).

I may have identified the wrong culprit - the app involved here is /usr/bin/xfce4-settings-manager.

Here is what the window looks like: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-3x0QT9-7fIS1FjU3Q3aTFZYkE/edit?usp=sharing

There are two icons for the nVidia X-server settings and I don't see any way to edit this.

Regardless of how they got there, I should be able to modify that by deleting or editing the one that doesn't work. I don't see any facility to do this.

This is the settings manager, not a file manager (it's not supposed to let you add/remove icons), this is definitely not the window manager (i.e. this bug shouldn't be filed against xfwm4) and I don't think this is even upstream in the settings manager (I suspect this is something added by Xubuntu, that's why I initially suggested to discuss this in Xubuntu first rather than Xfce bugzilla)

Cross-filing with xubuntu.
