Good morning! I'm using Xubuntu 14.04 LTS, and suddenly Parole media player refused to open AVI or MOV files (previously they opened).
Error message displayed was:
Error on Gstreamer backend - Could not initialise Xv output.
Tried to reinstall Parole and associated files, but got no success.
Any suggestion or help will be trully welcome!
Thank you in advance for your attention and help.

Hi, this is not a problem in parole directly, obviously you're experiencing a problem with XV accelerated playback (could be your graphics driver, X11 or a combination of both causing that as far as I know).

For the meantime, you can run parole once from the commandline with "parole --xv false" and from then on it should use X11's software accelerated playback. (Note: after running this once from the commandline, the settings is remembered. If you want to revert it, run parole once with "parole --xv true")
